Nelson Mandela Museum in partnership with the Eastern Cape provincial department of Sport Recreation Arts and Culture will host a virtual International summit to celebrate the 31st anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s release from prison and 21st anniversary of the Museum’s establishment. The summit is scheduled to take place on the 10th of February 2021 from 15h00 until 18h00 via Zoom platform, under the theme: The release of Nelson Mandela: How it shaped current South Africa and the world.

The 31st anniversary release of Nelson Mandela and 21st anniversary of the Museum came at a time when the world is faced with the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. The spread of COVID-19 has led to millions of infected people and increase in the number of deaths which forced governments to implement regulations that prevent public gatherings. The implemented regulations have necessitated that the Museum to host its events virtually.
