Launch of Nelson Mandela Wax Statue Exhibition

The Nelson Mandela Museum will host an open day event to promote the wax figures exhibition housed at its Bhunga Building premises. These wax figures depict Nelson Mandela’s life journey from birth to the day he departed. The open day event will be a tool to introduce young artists that seek to learn on wax and clay material.

This year marks 45 years since the June 16 Soweto uprising. The event will take place during the celebrations of June 16, targeting the youth, learners and young artists. The exhibition will be showcased at the Nelson Mandela Museum until the 30th of July 2021. These wax figures are a brain child of Lungelo Gumede who specializes in designing and creating life size wax statues of the A-List of celebrities, icons, TV personalities, sports and prominent political leaders and is currently operating at the Bat Centre in Durban.
