Nelson Mandela Museum Spring Camp “Enhancing the Legacy of Nelson Mandela’s through Youth”

The augmentation of Mr. Nelson Mandela’s Legacy at the Nelson Mandela Museum has positioned Nelson Mandela Museum as a hub for knowledge, inspiration, and hope among youth and public.

Advancing its mandate, Nelson Mandela Museum will host Spring School Camp from the 03rd to the 06th of October 2022. The Spring School Camp will take place at the Nelson Mandela Museum sites in Mthatha.

More than twenty learners, coming from different provinces of South Africa will converge in Mthatha for the camp. Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape Provinces will be represented in the camp. Since its inception in 2007, the museum has hosted more than 2000 learners through National Youth Camps and has taken more than 50 learners to annual International Youth Camps held in Lower Saxony, Germany.

“The motive behind the establishment of the Spring School Camp programme is informed by an ideology shared by Nelson Mandela Museum’s patron, Mr. Nelson Mandela that ‘that Nelson Mandela Museum should become a place where youth is nurtured to embrace and defend the freedom we enjoy’. That will only be achieved through educational programmes of this nature that embrace Nelson Mandela’s values such as Integrity, Democracy, Human Rights etc.’, Said Nelson Mandela Museum CEO Dr Vuyani Booi.
